Five Things You Need To Know About Kuromori Kagura

Editor's Note: Children are invited to a family-friendly Kuromori Kagura performance and movement workshop on Sunday, October 28th, 2012 at Japan Society in New York.  Teens and adults will enjoy Japan Society's evening performances of Kuromori Kagura on Saturday, October 27th and Sunday, October 28th.

William Lee, Associate Professor and Director of Asian Studies Centre at the University of Manitoba, shares "5 Things You Need to Know About Kuromori Kagura" in this fun YouTube video.  Kuromori Kagura is traditional folklore-based Japanese music and dance developed several hundred years ago in worship of the divine spirit of the Kuromori Shrine in Iwate prefecture, the region devastated by the recent Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
