How will Japan maintain its status as a world economic power with the rise of other large Asian nations?

In light of Japan's economic bubble burst and the rapid growth of India and China, will Japan be able to compete for markets and natural resources, and with a stagnant and aging population is it possible for Japan to continue to be the world's second largest economy?
