Damaged Housing Miyagi Prefecture

This video features housing damaged by the March 11, 2011 tsunami along the coast of Miyagi Prefecture. The images were shot in July, 2011 in the cities/towns of Kesennuma, Minamisanrikucho, and Nattori. These were among the hardest hit areas of the prefecture.

Even at this stage, you will notice that different areas suffered different types of damage and also varied in the extent of their clean up and recovery. As recovery is a long process, and the earthquake and tsunami affected different locations in different ways, it is important that student pay attention to the date and location in which photographs/videos of tsunami and earthquake damage were created.
