Reconstruction of the Ginza after the Great Kanto Earthquake

This photograph shows the Ginza district, one of the most vibrant areas in Tokyo, in November 1925.  Two years earlier, on September 1, 1923, the Great Kanto Earthquake has leveled much of the Ginza district.  This photograph shows the extent of recovery in two years.  Students can compare it to photographs of Tokyo shortly after he earthquake, such as this photograph.   The above picture was taken on November 11, 1925.
