The picture is taken in front of Cinderella's Castle at Tokyo Disneyland, January 25, 1983, just before the parks opening. The theme park is located in the Chiba prefecture adjacent to the main city of Tokyo. Tokyo Disneyland was modeled after Disney's two previous parks in southern California and Orlando, Florida.  Tokyo Disneyland has proven to be a huge success.  For an interesting analysis of how and why it succeeded (and how it was made to fit into Japanese culture), please read Riding the Black Ship: Japan and Tokyo Disneyland by Aviad E.
