Entryway to Tatami Room

Entryway to Tatami Room

Slippers are shown here in the entryway to a tatami (woven grass mat) room. Families purchase these slippers to wear inside of their homes in order to minimize the collection of dirt, especially on traditional tatami floors. An entryway full of slippers indicates that the family is most likely not at home.
