Farm Tool
This farm took illustrates the creative means with which Japanese farmers have mechanized farming on a "terraced" field. As can be seen in the linked picture, a terraced field allows farming to take place on a relatively steep mountain by digging small, flat plateus, or terraces, into the side of the mountain. To better take advantage of the arable land available, generally little room is left to bring mechanized vehicles to all parts of the fields. In order to help move the harvested oranges from this grove quickly to the garages where they will be sorted, farmers have developed these mechanical carts to carry both equipment and boxes of oranges quickly and efficiently, while still using as much land as possible arable.
