Taco Rice
The picture shows "taco rice," a new example of cultural diffusion. While not common in Japan, the Japanese man who made this dish placed taco toppings on top of Japanese style white rice. It is an example of mixing food traditions, something common to many cultures for which modern Japan is well known. It also points to the importance of white rice as a staple of the Japanese diet -- although in traditional Japanese cuisine other food items would not be placed on the white rice.
